Minorities on Ice
This weekend I took part in a quintessentially Ottawa activity- skating on the canal. The canal runs through town and quite a few people actually skate to work/school when it freezes over in the winter. Some friends and I decided to get out there and skate (my first time in a couple of years). Skating is the one winter activity I can actually sort of do (unlike skiing and snowboarding) so I was in! I did manage to wipe out once while I was trying to talk on my cell phone. I ended up catching my skate in a rut and fully wiping out. As I was attempting to gracefully get up again I heard a lady skate by and say to her friend "Oh, she was on her cell phone". Thanks lady.
As well, my friend Nicole turned and said to me "Aruna, look around, we're the only minorities here, we're surrounded by white people". We then agreed in the future we have to choreograph a "Minorities on Ice" routine. Stay tuned!

You should amend the title to read, "HOT minorties on ice.- So HOT, the show only lasts 10 minutes before the rink melts."

Hey Aruna! LOL..."minorities on ice" ...almost as funny as the "SARS on Ice" skating event that the UBC Chinese Varsity Club came up with when I was doing my undergrad (during the SARS crisis) The things people of visible minority origin can get away with saying ;) ...you and I still have to get our "Team India" and "Team China" t-shirts ;)
